Kent is an English county situated in the Southeast of London. It borders Sussex, Surrey and Greater London. The county town is Maidstone which is situated in the middle of Kent. There are onemillion and a half inhabitants in Kent for less than four thousand square kilometres.

 

Because of its geaographic situation, it has been one of the most invaded places in England. Among the most importants battles, there are the destruction of the unconquerable Spanish Armada and the aerial battle of 1940.

 

Almost, Kent is a big crossing point thanks to the Channel Tunnel which was complete in 1994 and which links up Paris to London by going through Ashford.

 

There are only two cathedrals in Kent, one in Canterbury and the other in Rochester, but Canterbury is one of the most important religious place in England.

 

The more interesting places in Kent are Rochester Castle, Leeds Castle, Upnor Castle, Dover Castle and its white cliffs and of course the heart of Canterbury.

 

But the two most beautiful towns in Kent are Margate and Ramsgate. Thay are known for their beautiful beaches where you can meet people coming from all over the world. The harbours are baeutiful to and there are a lot of different boats from the sailing boats to the cargo boats.

 

Kent has provided inspiration for several notable writers and artists like Turner Charles Dickens and William Galding who had received a nobel prize in 1930 for his painting about Kent county. Kent is widely known as the Garden of England thanks to its beautiful gardens and castles.
